Dr. Liu is an infectious diseases physician who brings an unique combination of academic and private-practice infectious diseases experiences plus fluency in health and life science informatics. He initially joined Woundtech as an associate medical director in 2016. In his current roles, Dr. Liu serves as the in-house infectious diseases consultant to the team of Woundtech clinicians and assists with development of Virtual Infectious Diseases platform. Dr. Liu graduated from MIT and obtained his MD and PhD degrees in Microbiology and Immunology in the lab of Dr. Jeff F. Miller at UCLA. During his infectious diseases fellowship and research at Stanford University, he worked with Dr. David Relman on whole genome analysis of host response to infections including Dangue fever and coccidioidomycosis. In 2007, he returned to UCLA as an Assistant Researcher where he successfully obtained multiple research grants on emerging infectious diseases and human microbiomes using molecular biology, genomics, and bioinformatics tools. Entering private practice in 2009, he has developed a thriving infectious diseases practice based in West Los Angeles while continuing to engage and publish original research with academic collaborators.
